SHIPPING & RETURNS POLICY
Conex Group supplies shipping containers, converted containers, portable buildings, security units, cabins, kiosks, offices, accommodation units and other specialised products. Due to the size, weight and customised nature of many of our products, the following Shipping & Returns Policy applies.
1. SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Delivery Areas
We deliver throughout South Africa. Delivery is available to major cities, towns and other accessible locations, subject to confirmation of the delivery address and transport requirements.
Delivery outside South Africa may be arranged by prior agreement.
Delivery Costs
Delivery charges are calculated according to:
- Delivery address and distance
- Product size and weight
- Type of transport required
- Loading and offloading requirements
- Site accessibility
- Crane or specialised equipment requirements, where applicable
Delivery charges will be quoted separately where they are not already included in the product price.
Delivery Times
Estimated delivery or manufacturing lead times are provided on the quotation or invoice.
Typical lead times may range from 3–5 working days for certain standard products to several weeks for larger or customised units.
Lead times commence once:
- The order has been confirmed;
- Required specifications have been approved; and
- The required deposit/payment has been received.
Delivery dates are estimates and may be affected by production schedules, transport availability, weather, public holidays, supplier delays or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Site Access
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the delivery site is suitable and accessible.
This includes ensuring:
- Adequate access for the delivery vehicle;
- Sufficient clearance for the unit;
- Suitable ground conditions;
- No overhead obstructions or restricted access;
- Required permits or site approvals have been obtained; and
- Any required crane, forklift or offloading equipment is available where this is the customer’s responsibility.
If delivery cannot be completed because the site is inaccessible or unsuitable, additional transport, waiting, storage or redelivery charges may apply.
Delivery & Installation
Where installation is included in the quotation, the scope of installation will be clearly stated on the quotation.
Unless specifically included, the following are not automatically included:
- Civil works
- Foundations
- Ground preparation
- Electrical connection to the main supply
- Plumbing connection to existing services
- Crane hire
- Building or municipal approvals
- Site clearing
These services may be quoted separately where required.
2. INSPECTION ON DELIVERY
Customers are encouraged to inspect their order upon delivery.
Any visible damage, missing components or incorrect items should be reported to Conex Group as soon as reasonably possible and preferably before the delivery vehicle leaves the site.
Photographs and supporting information may be requested to assist with the investigation.
Signing a delivery note confirms receipt of the goods but does not remove any rights the customer may have under applicable South African law.
3. RETURNS & CANCELLATIONS
Because many of our products are large, specialised or manufactured according to customer requirements, returns are not automatically accepted on made-to-order or customised products.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Converted shipping containers
- Guardhouses
- Security booths
- Container offices
- Container cafes
- Portable buildings
- Custom cabins
- Units manufactured to specific dimensions
- Products with customer-selected finishes, colours or layouts
- Products manufactured or modified to the customer’s specifications
Cancellation of a customised or made-to-order product after production has commenced may result in the customer being liable for costs already incurred for materials, labour, transport, fabrication and other committed expenses, subject to applicable law.
Standard Stock Products
Unused standard stock products may be considered for return subject to prior written approval from Conex Group.
The product must generally be:
- Unused;
- Undamaged;
- In its original condition;
- Complete with all supplied components; and
- Suitable for resale.
The customer may be responsible for return transportation and reasonable costs associated with the return, where legally permitted.
4. DEFECTIVE OR INCORRECT PRODUCTS
If a product supplied by Conex Group is defective, materially different from what was agreed, or does not meet applicable legal requirements, please contact us as soon as possible.
We will assess the issue and, where applicable, arrange an appropriate remedy such as:
- Repair;
- Replacement; or
- Refund,
in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act and other applicable South African legislation.
South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act provides an implied warranty of quality and, in qualifying circumstances, allows a consumer to return defective goods within six months at the supplier’s risk and expense.
5. ONLINE ORDERS
For qualifying electronic transactions, consumers may have cancellation rights under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
The ECT Act provides a cooling-off right of seven days for qualifying electronic transactions, subject to the Act and its exclusions. Where the supplier has failed to provide certain required information or opportunities before the transaction, different cancellation provisions may apply.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable South African legislation.
6. PRODUCTS MADE TO CUSTOMER SPECIFICATION
Where a customer approves drawings, dimensions, layouts, colours, finishes, electrical specifications or other specifications before production, the customer is responsible for checking and approving those specifications.
Once production has commenced, changes may result in additional costs and may affect the agreed lead time.
Customised products may not be returnable simply because the customer changes their mind or no longer requires the product, subject always to any rights provided by applicable law.
7. REFUNDS
Where a refund is approved, the refund will generally be processed using the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed.
The processing time may depend on the payment method and banking institution.
Where a refund is required by applicable law, Conex Group will process the refund within the period required by that legislation.
8. DELIVERY DAMAGE
If an item arrives visibly damaged, customers should:
- Photograph the product and packaging before moving or altering it;
- Record the damage on the delivery documentation where possible;
- Contact Conex Group with photographs and details of the damage; and
- Keep all relevant delivery documentation.
We will investigate the matter and arrange an appropriate solution where the damage occurred while the goods were under our responsibility.
9. DELIVERY DELAYS
Conex Group will make reasonable efforts to meet quoted delivery dates.
We will not be liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Transport delays;
- Severe weather;
- Road closures;
- Supplier delays;
- Material shortages;
- Industrial action;
- Government restrictions;
- Site access problems; or
- Other unforeseen circumstances.
Where a significant delay occurs, we will communicate the revised expected delivery timeframe to the customer.
10. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
The customer is responsible for providing:
- Correct delivery details;
- Correct contact information;
- Site access;
- Any required site permissions;
- Suitable access for delivery vehicles;
- Accurate product specifications and approvals; and
- Any customer-supplied information required for manufacture or installation.
Additional costs caused by incorrect information or unsuitable site conditions may be charged to the customer where applicable.
